Alag Racecourse and Training Center is one of the iconic places of the Hungarian horse racing history that has a great tradition with more than 150 years. The training center of lots of thoroughbreds decided in 2012 to organize three-day events on the old steeplechase track. The venue has joined the FEI Eventing Development Program that helps to improve and reach the highest standard of international eventing competitions. The goal was to have events up to CCI3* within few years to provide possibility for riders of the international region to prepare effectively for the championships and games.

The first event (CNC-A0, CCI1*, CIC2*) was organized in September of 2012 in Dunakeszi, Alag Racecourse and Training Center (cross-country test) and in Budapest, Kincsem Park (dressage, jumping test). From 2013 the date of Alag Horse Trials has been moved to the end of May. The first ever international 3-star eventing competition of Hungary was held in 2013, and scored great success. In addition to CIC3*, the more than fifty riders from five nations had the possibility to start also in CIC1* and CIC2* classes. The show was followed by lots of enthusiastic spectators, on the spot or through the live internet streaming. As the next step of the development of the show, all the three disciplines and stabling moved to Dunakeszi-Alag in 2014. In the category of CIC3* the number of starters was more than 20. In 2015, the venue stepped up the next level with organizing CCI3* which was considered as a qualifier competition for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Around 70 horses were competing in the four categories of the event, CIC1*/2*/3* and CCI3*, in the fantastic ground of Alag.

The next high-level international event on this wonderful venue will be organized on the weekend of 18-20 May 2018, in three categories,  CCI1*/2*/3*. The event will return to Dunakeszi-Alag with the stabling and all disciplines. The very globalized selection of FEI Officials will guarantee that this year’s event will be a top quality international show.

"Regarding the perfect conditions, this old sand based race course has one of the best footings we have ever seen. This has the potential of becoming one of the major three-star events in Europe." - Andrew Griffiths, Technical Delegate and Coordinator of the FEI Eventing Development Program commented one of his first visits several years ago.

Organization is in progress, and venue is under development for Hungary’s top event, in Dunakeszi, some kilometres away from the Capital, Budapest.

Hope to meet you there!
